We are the Sheboygan County affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together organization. We do similar work to Habitat for Humanity, but we are different because we provide all labor, both volunteer and contractor, as well as materials at no cost to the homeowner as long as they qualify as low income. We repair existing homes often allowing the occupants to remain in their home rather than having to move to rental or assisted living properties. We accept applications from owner-occupied single-family homes where the occupants qualify as low income and are disadvantaged in some manner. This includes elderly, disabled, veterans, and single parent households. We use a 25-point checklist to bring applicant homes up to our standards for a safe, warm, and dry living space. We will accomplish this using primarily volunteer labor supplemented by contractors where necessary. We schedule projects throughout the year as financial resources become available.
