Mental Health America - Wabash Valley Region (MHA-WVR) was founded in 1950 and is our community's largest and oldest not-for-profit organization dedicated to eradicating the stigma of mental illness and advocating for the rights of those facing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
Mental Health America - Wabash Valley Region Inc. is an affiliate of the national Mental Health America. We serve 11 counties across North Central Indiana and are located in Lafayette, Indiana with satellite offices in Delphi and Kokomo. Our mission is “Achieving better mental health in the Wabash Valley Region of North Central Indiana.”
MHA-WVR provides a full continuum of non-clinical mental health services to the communities we serve at no cost to them, including; evidence-based mental health and suicide prevention educational programs, information and referrals, mental health navigation, peer recovery coaching, crisis talk and text line, on-line screenings, support groups and housing to those experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges and those who love them.
Additionally, MHA-WVR operates Indiana’s National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Center for 33 counties and is the Region 4 suicide prevention coalition leader for “Wabash Valley Warriors for Wellness” which has a Veteran focus and is Veteran-led.
MHA-WVR advocates every day to protect the rights and dignity of individuals with lived experience and ensure that peers and their voices are integrated into all areas of the organization.
