We serve the foster communities within Polk and Yamhill counties in the state of Oregon. Between all the caregivers, biological families, and children in foster care, we are serving approximately 1,000 in our region. Our programs and activities include:
- My Neighbor – A program and portal designed to mobilize the community to assist with meeting the pressing tangible needs of foster families and any family within the child welfare system.
- Explore Fostering – Recruitment events that bring together veteran foster parents with prospective caregivers to have a frank conversation about becoming a certified foster home.
- Foster Parents Night Out - a monthly four-hour program for children in foster care that also provides a respite opportunity for caregivers.
Peer Mentoring: A new or struggling foster parent is paired with an experienced caregiver who can provide information, insight, empathy, and support.
REACH Northwest's focus through 2026 is on strengthening foster care stability by addressing the urgent need to create more respite opportunities, provide training and techniques for working with children with trauma-induced behaviors, and recruit new foster parents to work toward every child being placed in a safe and supportive home without delay.
