SHAWNEE HILLS ARTS COUNCIL

The arts center provides these diverse activities each year to include: 3 play/musicals, monthly art exhibits of local artist, concerts, art and dance classes/workshops, summer art and drama camps, weekly Quilting Bee quilters, Civil War Weekend, Constitution Week, Salute to Veterans Dinner, and Southern Illinois Music Festival venue for Chamber Music concert and Klassic for Kids/Jive for Jazz. Participants’ ages for the various events range from 5 to 96 and come from Union County and all over Southern Illinois.
The arts center owns 3 100+ year old buildings that host the diverse activities. The maintenance and repair is a constant factor to ensure that the arts center is a safe and welcoming place for the attendees of the various programs. Currently two roofs need to be repaired.
