Since 1993, Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship of Pittsburgh has been caring for the needs of homeless men and women.
Located at 13 Pride Street in the Uptown section of Pittsburgh, Shepherd's Heart provides the following services:
• Shepherd’s Heart Veteran’s Home, which we call “House of Hope.” There, 15 formerly homeless male Veterans receive transitional housing, rehabilitation, counseling, food and much more.
• Drop-In Center called “Shepherd’s Place.” We provide warmth, breakfast, prayers, information and referral, networking, clothing, shoes/boots, and other comprehensive services to men and women who are homeless and often addicted.
•Free Shuttle Bus service for homeless men and women to the VA, medical appointments, government offices, other non-profit agencies, and other important offices.
• Food Pantry (mostly canned and boxed foods and often freshly-prepared meals for individuals and families who are vulnerable, hungry and at risk.)
• Resource Center, where volunteers help us organize and distribute coats, shoes/boots and other clothing to men and women who are vulnerable and in need.
• Cold Weather Shelter for Women: From November 15 - March 15, Shepherd's Heart provides a cold weather overnight shelter for up to 26 women. We provide meals, a warm bed, clothing, shoes, blankets as needed, and a safe, caring respite from the cold.
Shepherd's Heart works closely with the Veterans Administration, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, 8 academic institutions, 21 veterans service organizations, 11 government entities, 16 health and homeless-related agencies, 110+ churches and other partners providing a community-wide approach to address the various needs of homeless men, women, and male Veterans.
