To offset costs of therapeutic riding and equine-assisted psychotherapy for children and adults who have disabilities. This will enable clients and/or their families to afford these beneficial services with a reasonable copayment.
Our clients and families already face high costs in providing the care required by the family member who has a disability. Having to pay the full cost of $115 per session would, quite simply, put these therapies out of financial reach for these already-burdened families.
We charge the nominal copayment of $40 per session to families, but even this often creates a financial hardship. Although proven beneficial, equine-assisted therapies are not covered by most third-party payers. If funding from charitable organizations is not available to cover the greater portion of the cost, most clients and families are unable to provide these therapies.
