We now serve nearly 2,000 individuals daily, providing lasting solutions to one of Boston’s most critical challenges.

Supportive Housing
This program serves more than 950 formerly homeless men and women throughout Greater Boston, with 41 buildings providing congregate housing as well as scattered-site rental units. The supportive housing model combines housing with on-site services to help tenants achieve their highest level of independence. Specialized housing is available for seniors, adults with mental health disabilities, and veterans.
Emergency Shelter/Street Outreach
Each night, we provide safe refuge to about 670 men and women at four shelters, each offering a warm bed, two nutritious meals and a wide array of supportive services, including access to medical, mental health, and recovery services. We also recently implemented innovative new Triage and Rapid Rehousing programs to help guests move more quickly from shelter to housing. Our street outreach team provides life-saving support, including food, clothing, and blankets as well as access to shelter and services each day and night of the year to more than 100 street dwellers.
Workforce Development
Serving nearly 200 people annually, this program offers job training to prepare participants for careers in food services and housekeeping. The training combines classroom education with real-world experience and internship opportunities to help participants secure and retain jobs. It also includes a growing social enterprise, iCater, which extends opportunities for Food Service trainees. An employment specialist also provides individualized job placement assistance for tenants in our supportive housing.
In 2017, to further support these comprehensive programs, Pine Street Inn implemented a strategic plan that includes leading-edge programs to more quickly end homelessness for more of the men and women we serve. These programs—Front-Door Triage, Rapid Rehousing, the Housing Placement Program and Moving On—provide new pathways to housing beyond Pine Street. They are helping to stem the tide of homelessness and providing a template for replication for peers.
