The Hampshire Regional YMCA has been providing wellness and family services to Hampshire County, Massachusetts since 1880. Today, the HRYMCA serves over 10,000 people of all ages annually through our Northampton facility, programs and events.
The YMCA’s programs focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Principle activities include a wide array of wellness options, chronic disease prevention and intervention, and integrative health programming. This includes the Livestrong Cancer Survivorship program, that is free to the public due to the donations and contributions to the YMCA's Annual Campaign. Additional mission-based programming includes: a veterans’ wellness program that enables combat veterans to utilize the YMCA as part of their Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder program; a partnership with an area shelter; a relationship with three local group homes and two mental health agencies; and a partnership with the REACH program for early childhood intervention. Our programming for seniors includes an Enhance Fitness Program, a Parkinson’s Program, and an Active Older Adults program, which includes social activities.
Our youth programs include wellness programs, a leadership club, youth and government programs and sports teams. The focus for youth is to provide a variety of options designed to develop lifelong skills with the foundation of our Y core values, caring, honesty respect and responsibility.
The Y hosts an outdoor, nature based day camp at Camp Norwich in Huntington, and school-age child care in three Northampton Elementary schools. In 2019, we offered financial aid to 14% of our members and participants totaling over $275,000. As we reach out to more individuals in need in accordance with our strategic plan, we will see this number increase in future years.
