Before teaming up with one of the dogs, program trainers first participate in four weeks of lecture classes. Then, over the next 10 weeks, they teach their canine students good manners and basic obedience. Upon successful completion, each dog is adopted into a loving home.
All trainers completing the curriculum will receive certificates. This curriculum is endorsed by the California State & the Community College Chancellor’s Office as two continued education courses: Concepts In Dog Training and Practical Dog Training.
This program, and the certificates received, provide much needed workforce re-entry skills to curb recidivism rates by teaching marketable skills for possible future employment in the pet industry.
During classes, some dogs exhibit special aptitude, and these canines receive advanced training afterwards in order to become working service dogs. Our scope at Cell Dogs includes: service dogs for veterans and first responders with physical or psychological challenges.
