The mission of the Fighting Back Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance for post-rehabilitative exercise to individuals recovering from a life changing injury or illness and to recognize individuals for their courage, desire and perseverance at our Annual Achievement Night.
Through word of mouth and referrals from local rehabilitation hospitals, people fighting back from life changing injuries and illnesses, including spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, ALS, MS, limb loss, and other mobility related disabilities, come together at the Fighting Back gym. Mr. Dillman created the Fighting Back Scholarship Program in 1989, when he was told by an individual who was watching him working with these people, that he’d support anyone in the Fighting Back Program who needed financial assistance to continue their fight toward recovery.
In 2013, originated with a grant from CoBI (Council on Brain Injury), the Fighting Back Veterans Program began to work one-on-one with injured veterans on a post-rehabilitative exercise program.
The Fighting Back gym is located in Malvern, Pennsylvania and is a place for people fighting back from life changing injuries and illnesses to come, along with their families and caregivers, to receive on-going post-rehabilitative exercise, and find encouragement in a family atmosphere.
