Over 25 years ago, Leadership Burbank was founded by the City of Burbank, Burbank Unified School District, and the Burbank Chamber of Commerce to build a better Burbank. Throughout our long history, Leadership Burbank has provided professional development, access, and training to new leaders in Burbank and hosted class projects that have generated more than a million in goods and services that have benefited all corners of Burbank. With more than 500 alumni, our leaders are engaged as local volunteers serving in various capacities in government, education, Boards and Commissions, and nonprofit volunteer services. Leadership Burbank has become an important piece of the fabric of our local community.
Our mission is to identify, educate, and motivate current and emerging leaders in Burbank to develop ideas and solutions that make Burbank a strong, sustainable, and vibrant community. Our leadership programs invite each class member to help create the community they want, while becoming the leader they truly are. Each class session is hosted at the campuses of all of the major businesses, government, and educational leaders throughout our programs. Class members and alumni visit campuses such as the City Hall of Burbank, Warner Bros. Discovery, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, Burbank Unified School District, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, and the Burbank Hollywood Airport.
Each class also choses a “class project” based on current community need and volunteers to fulfill the project goals within the framework of the Leadership Burbank program. Class projects have benefited most charitable organizations throughout Burbank as well as the Burbank Animal Shelter, the local Veteran’s VFW Hall, the Burbank Unified School District, and the City’s Joslyn Senior Center.
Leadership Burbank is additive to the local community because of our programs and the ripple effect of each alumnus’ volunteerism after this leadership training. Their efforts and our charity’s mission continue to make Burbank a strong, sustainable, and vibrant community.
Our nine-month leadership program, as well as our Master Classes and non-partisan candidate forums, have engaged our community to truly understand the landscape of our local city, to build their network, and to engage in causes and issues that they want to volunteer for.
