Gold Star Financial Support:
As a matter of practice, we step in and aid the families affected by a Class A (fatal)
Army Aviation mishap. Each family is sent a $2,500 check or ACH for immediate
casualty assistance.
In addition to the immediate casualty assistance, we begin a month-long fundraiser
and design a T-shirt unique to each mishap that we support.
100% of the profits of these shirts are granted to the Gold Star families. The funds
from the memorial apparel, and the fundraiser provides assistance with family travel,
lodging, incidentals, etc.
Step 1: An Army Aircraft mishap involving fatalities occurs.
Step 2: The foundation works with the unit leadership and CAOs to obtain command
and family approval to provide assistance.
Step 3: The Foundation sends a $2,500 ACH to each Gold Star Family, initiates a
month-long fundraising campaign, and designs memorial apparel.
Education Assistance:
This program, funded through the Blue Skies Endowment Fund, is designed to support
the educational aspirations of the children of fallen aircrew by providing financial
assistance to cover tuition, room and board, and books for both traditional college
and trade school programs. Recognizing the diverse career paths and educational
needs of these children, the Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation is committed to
supporting their journey, whether it leads to a university degree or skilled trade
certification.
Legacy Preservation:
The Legacy Preservation Program is dedicated to honoring our fallen aircrew and
ensuring their legacies live on. This initiative serves as a lasting tribute to those who
made the ultimate sacrifice, reinforcing the bond between the fallen, their units, and
the Army Aviation community.
Memorial Bracelets
In the initial phase of the program, we provide memorial bracelets to the affected
unit, giving service members a tangible way to remember and honor their brothers
and sisters in arms. These bracelets serve as a symbol of remembrance, solidarity,
and respect for those who gave their lives in service.
Brick Build Airframe Model
Through a partnership with CQ Brick, each Gold Star Family will receive a custom
build kit of the airframe their loved one flew. These high-quality, detailed models
serve as a lasting tribute, allowing families to honor and remember their hero in a
meaningful and personal way.
Story:
The Blue Skies Foundation was founded by three Active-Duty Army Aviators in early
2020. Each serving for the better part of a decade, including a combat deployment,
they were very familiar with the inherent risk of their jobs.
Two members, while serving in liaison positions with Special Forces Groups,
experienced firsthand the positive effects that organizations like the Green Beret
Foundation were able to have on the families of fallen Green Berets. Nothing like this
existed for the Army Aviation Community.
On September 26, 2019, MAJ Trevor Joseph was killed in a UH-60 crash in Fort Polk,
LA. The following day they decided to leverage their network in the community to
make a difference.
