My community service and volunteer work began during the Hurricane season of 2005. Through the years I have learned the importance of bringing hope into the lives of those who may have lost sight of it. I became a lead volunteer with NACC Disaster Services from 2012 - 2020 – traveling to the tornado hit areas of Moore, OK, Hattiesburg, MS, as well as several towns in Alabama. I have been involved in flood relief aid in Florida, Baton Rouge and Evans LA, as well as disaster aid for the many hurricanes that have come to our state. In 2017, I enrolled in Psychology – Christian Counseling at Liberty University hoping that this avenue of learning would fuel my passion for serving others with compassion and understanding. What originally started out to be a place where I could sit and talk with people who needed an ear quickly turned into disaster relief as the effects of COVID-19 began shutting down everything. March 2020 the NSO team began pushing out hand sanitizer and wipes and moved towards cooking homemade hot meals for senior citizens and supplying commodity boxes to those in need; partnerships with the Beauregard Council on Aging, Beauregard Parish Sherriff Office Senior Division, and Merryville Police Department Senior Division have made it possible to consistently serve to this present day. 2020’s Hurricane season opened another opportunity to bring hope into the community. With the help of one of our partners, VFW Post 3619 and countless others, we served over 33,000 people during the span of 2 ½ months with much needed disaster supplies, hygiene, water, food and daily hot meals. I live by the words found in Matthew 25:35-40 and firmly believe that this standard is how you bring hope into the lives of others.
