/ VA HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER OF AZ

MVCC wants to participate in the Health and Wellness of our Veterans and the local community in general.

Organizations Name: VA HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER OF AZ – dba Maricopa Veteran Care Center. We are registered with the AZ Corp Commission - 82-3338661 5013c** with International Coverage to include Los Angeles.

In 2017 Kent & Chrystal O’Jon founded this program to assist Maricopa Veterans suffering with PTSD and more. Our goal was to cut travel time for Veterans by bringing counseling and therapy right here to Maricopa.

Our current Board Members Include Garry Presume/Intel, Oterias Hammann/ Hammann Solutions LLC, Councilwoman Julia Gusse/VETIT & Our Program Director Amber Liermann, MAPC, LPC.

Why we’d like to participate – In programs that provide funding.
Recent traumatic events like 1.) Covid19 and 2.) The Current Political Discord 3. Lack of Employment, and 4. Marital/Family Stress may be triggers for many Veterans here in Maricopa. Fear and anxiety about COVID-19 can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions for our Veterans.

Recognizing that Maricopa has a large Veteran Population, we’d like to provide Covid19 emotional support working with local partners.

Amber Liermann, will act as our Volunteer Program Director and has put together a program, which will be held at the Maricopa Library. Space has already been reserved, and or can be held online via Zoom.

Amber Liermann will determine:
1. Groups Assessment Needs
2. Didactic Groups with curriculum
3. Quarterly Speakers to cover such topics as Financial Literacy, and PTSD, Anxiety and Depression

The Counseling Program will provide:
1. Bi-Weekly Support Group for Veterans - Mondays or Thursdays from 6:30 - 7:30pm
2. Bi-Weekly Support Group for Veterans Family Members - Mondays or Thursdays 6:30 - 7:30
3. Individual Tele/Video Support
4. Couples Tele/Video Support

6. Quarterly Basic Health Opportunities - Dental, Hearing, Vision and Medical Check-Up
7. Provide resources such as Books, Videos, Programs
8. Collect Data to monitor needs and trends through a written Needs Assessment

Our objective will always be to hire and partner with local Maricopa Practitioners.
