Maryland Respite Inn-The Terrace Guest House

Located in New Market, Maryland, The Terrace Guest House is the first of it's kind in the nation. Functioning as a non-profit, free of charge "bed and breakfast" style sanctuary, Our primary social media theme is #SLEEPMATTERS, addressing the benefits of adequate recuperative sleep and it's positive impact on the physical and mental health of parents & caregivers. The Terrace Guest House provides affordable, frequent respite to weary moms, dads, and other caregivers who have loved ones with disabilities and/or chronic illness. Open year-round, we host 3 night weekend retreats exclusively for these individuals, offering critical recuperative rest, mental health support, and therapeutic fellowship. Not only do we serve parents of children with special needs, we also host all foster and adoptive parents, special educators, spouses of wounded warriors/veterans, and caregivers to their own elderly parents living at home. We rely entirely on donations from guests, social groups, churches, and others in the community. Our monthly expenses at this location (including a full-time property manager/innkeeper, housekeeping, insurance, property maintenance, supplies and materials, and utilities) are approx $6000. We hold separate fundraisers for additional capital projects and improvements.
