CENTRAL OREGON VETERANS & COMMUNITY OUTREACH INC

COVO was founded in 2005 by local Vietnam Veterans who refused to accept that their brother and sister Veterans should leave the military only to end up without housing, jobs and their dignity after serving their country honorably. COVO is a resource for all Veterans needing assistance. The Outreach Program provides clothing, food, camping gear, water, propane, and other sustenance items to Veterans and those who are unsheltered or in need. We operate a walk-in Outreach Center available to all who are homeless to access survival items and connection to resources. Our Outreach teams go to homeless camps several times weekly to offer survival items and resources and help to get services and housing. We also provide emergency funds for rent, utilities, car repairs, and fuel as we have such funds available. COVO provides wrap-around case managment services for homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of becoming homeless, and their families, and serves over 100 Veteran households each year in finding or sustaining safe housing. COVO manages the Central Oregon Veterans Village, a new project providing shelter for up to 15 homeless Veterans at a time and services to get aid them in getting healthy and housed. COVO also has 27 low-income housing units, a mix of multi-family and single family units, to house homeless Veterans.

COVO has a person-centered approach to services, recognizing that everyone who comes to us for help has unique story and needs. COVO is a place where everyone is welcome, everyone who is challenging to work with gets another chance, and no one leaves without something, even if we can’t provide material needs we can offer hope and acceptance.
