Legacy Hooves Equine Center is a mission-aligned program of His Grace Church that rescues, rehabilitates, and repurposes at-risk equines while creating meaningful opportunities for human healing, connection, and growth. Through our unique approach, the same horses who are restored physically and emotionally go on to help people experience restoration themselves—forming a powerful circle of purpose.
We operate with three primary focus areas designed to maximize impact, broaden funding opportunities, and serve diverse populations.
Track 1: Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. We rescue mustangs, donkeys, and other equines that have been neglected, abused, or abandoned—many of them saved from the slaughter pipeline. Once rescued, they receive medical treatment, behavioral support, and safe sanctuary for rehabilitation. Some become permanent herd members, while others are prepared for adoption or purposeful work. Rescue activities include emergency intake, veterinary and farrier care, pasture-based recovery, and long-term or sanctuary placement. Donations to this track directly support feed, shelter, medical treatment, hoof care, fencing, and enrichment that gives each animal a second chance at life.
Track 2: Community Outreach and Equine-Assisted Support (Non-Religious). This track provides opportunities for people—especially veterans, individuals with disabilities, and families in rural or underserved communities—to experience gentle, ground-based interaction with horses, donkeys, and mustangs. These sessions are non-clinical and non-religious, making them inclusive and eligible for public grants and corporate giving programs like Benevity. Session types include equine interaction for emotional wellness, non-riding family experience days, veteran and trauma-informed activities, and public horse encounter events. Participants engage in grooming, leading, herd observation, and quiet reflection. These activities promote self-awareness, stress relief, and personal connection without therapy or spiritual content.
Track 3: Faith-Based Retreats and Ministry (Funded Separately). As a church-based initiative, we also offer faith-based experiences for individuals and small groups seeking spiritual renewal. These sessions may include devotionals, prayer, scripture, and equine interaction. To remain compliant with secular grant platforms, these faith-based experiences are fully funded through private donations, tithes, and church sponsorships.
Legacy Hooves Equine Center bridges the gap between animal welfare and human connection. Every rescued equine contributes to community wellness. Every participant finds peace in presence. And every experience is tailored to the individual or group—whether seeking recovery, connection, or renewal.
By clearly separating our program tracks, we ensure transparency and funding compliance across animal welfare grants, corporate and public donor platforms like Benevity, and faith-based giving.
Project Location: All services are delivered at our private equine property in Pipe Creek, Texas, serving both rural and urban populations in the greater San Antonio, Texas area.
Outcomes and Impact: Horses are rescued, rehabilitated, and restored. Families are reconnected through equine interaction. Individuals facing hardship are supported through connection. Veterans and people with disabilities are served through gentle, accessible sessions. Public education around equine empathy and rescue is expanded. Spiritual transformation through equine ministry continues through privately funded retreats and events.
