Shamrock Reins is a nonprofit charitable organization formed February 10, 2014. We provide equine assisted activities and therapies for our Veterans, Service Members, and their Families at no cost to them. Equine assisted activities and therapies literally change lives and provide cognitive, emotional, physical, and social benefits. Shamrock Reins is a safe haven, a calm peaceful, safe, nonthreatening, nonconfrontational place for our Veterans, Military Service Members, First Responders, and Families of Fallen Heroes to heal.
Shamrock Reins is nestled on 22 acres with 7 fenced-in pastures, 6 pastures have run-in sheds and an Extreme Mountain trail Obstacle Course. We have a European style barn with 15 stalls for Horses, 1 tack room, 1 grain stall, and 1 equipment stall, and a small lounge. Our programs are conducted in a large outdoor arena and 2 round pens. An indoor arena is planned.
Participants who enroll in our programs are faced with various challenges such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Impaired use or loss of limb, Impaired or loss of Sight, Impaired or loss of Hearing, Muscle weakness, Nerve Damage, Chronic Pain, Anxiety, Depression, Social Isolation, Anger Regulation Issues, Severe Insomnia, Substance abuse, various Mental Health Issues, and difficulty reintegrating into civilian life. The healing power of our Horses is nothing short of amazing. Our Horses are saving lives and preventing suicides.
Participants attend weekly sessions, same day, same time every week. They work with the same Horse and Therapy Teams. Participants enroll in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and then may transition to Therapeutic Horsemanship. We also offer various Specialty Workshops. There is no limit to participation and all programs are offered at no cost.
