From November 1 through December 31, 2023, The Coleman Foundation is doubling every gift we receive up to $25,000. That means if we raise $25,000, they will turn it into $50,000.
Since 1987, Donka’s overarching goal has been to increase community integration and socialization of our students via assistive technology (AT). Through our AT (adaptive hardware/software) computer training and job placement services, Donka’s graduates gain Microsoft office, business, and job skills that help them achieve life goals we all take for granted: gaining employment, going to school, and enriching their lives through social engagement. To date, over 1,230 persons have graduated from Donka. We have an expanding list of individuals awaiting our training – and our veterans, visual services, and job placement programs are in high demand.
Consider Charlotte, a visually impaired Donka graduate who gets up each day and looks forward to going to her cashier job at Meijer: because she is able. She is finally able to work again because community supporters like you helped pay for her AT computer training and job placement services.
There are over 100,000 people with disabilities in our service area, DuPage and Kane counties, that, like Charlotte, can use your help. Between 67%-69% of working aged people with disabilities in this area are unemployed. And 38% of people with disabilities report not having a computer at home – meaning they are not honing digital skills necessary to work and everyday life. You have an opportunity to change that with a gift today.

• $50 – Purchases a literacy app to improve reading and writing skills for students
• $100 – Buys a Microsoft Office textbook for training
• $250 – Provides a Donka student an Assistive Technology Assessment
• $500 – Allows Donka’s job placement specialist to work with a job seeker for 10 hours
• $1,000 – Purchases a laptop for our loaner program, allowing our students to borrow a computer until they can afford their own
