Truconnected is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to closing the digital divide and creating a circular economy by giving new life to unused technology. We bridge two critical societal gaps: (1) the need for access to digital devices among underserved individuals, and (2) the growing problem of electronic waste overwhelming our landfills. Our model is simple yet transformative—we repurpose donated technology, provide digital literacy support, and place devices directly into the hands of those who need them most. Our impact is environmental, educational, and deeply human.
Founded on the belief that connectivity is a modern human right, Truconnected works to ensure that every person—regardless of socioeconomic background—has access to the digital tools necessary to participate in education, employment, healthcare, and community engagement. We operate at the intersection of technology access, social equity, and environmental sustainability, uniting stakeholders from corporate, community, and civic sectors to build a more inclusive digital future.
Our mission is to repurpose unused technology into tools of opportunity, supporting digital equity, reducing e-waste, and empowering underserved communities through access to modern devices and digital training. We believe in a world where technology serves not only as a convenience—but as a lifeline to learning, livelihood, and leadership.
We envision a society where no device is wasted and no person is left behind. Through sustainable reuse, we want to eliminate the barrier of technology inequity for families, students, veterans, job seekers, and seniors, enabling everyone to thrive in a connected world.
Equity: Every human being deserves access to the tools required to succeed.
Sustainability: We champion the reuse of technology as a viable, impactful alternative to landfill waste.
Transparency: We maintain full accountability to our donors, recipients, and partners.
Innovation: We continually improve how we refurbish, redistribute, and educate.
Community: We build relationships across sectors to make collective impact scalable.
1. Technology Collection & Repurposing
Truconnected partners with businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals to collect unwanted computers, laptops, tablets, monitors, and accessories. Our team ensures all devices are:
Securely wiped of data following DoD 5220.22-M and NIST 800-88 standards
Refurbished and tested for functionality
Repaired or responsibly recycled if unfit for reuse
We maintain an ethical e-waste policy that ensures nothing we touch ends up in landfills or pollutes the global South through offshore dumping. Every component is reused, donated, or responsibly recycled in accordance with local and federal environmental regulations.
2. Digital Device Distribution
We connect refurbished devices with:
Low-income families
K–12 students
College-bound youth
Seniors and retirees
Veterans re-entering the workforce
Unemployed and underemployed adults
People with disabilities
Our Recipient Impact Framework ensures that each device is placed where it will be most impactful. Devices are accompanied by support materials, warranties (when available), and access to free or low-cost digital literacy programming.
3. Digital Literacy and Workforce Empowerment
Device access is not enough. That’s why we offer digital training and educational resources that teach:
Basic computer navigation
Internet safety and digital hygiene
Resume creation and job search tools
Online learning tools for students
Virtual meeting tools for seniors and jobseekers
We collaborate with local libraries, workforce centers, schools, and social service agencies to deliver hybrid (in-person and online) learning experiences that build digital confidence and reduce tech intimidation.
4. Environmental Stewardship
Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing environmental hazards in the world. Each year, over 50 million tons of e-waste is generated globally—only 20% is formally recycled. The rest ends up in landfills, leaks toxic chemicals, and contributes to climate degradation.
By giving technology a second life, we:
Divert thousands of pounds of e-waste annually
Extend product life cycles and reduce demand for new raw materials
Reduce carbon footprints associated with manufacturing new devices
We report our diversion data in transparent sustainability dashboards for corporate and foundation partners.
Strategic Goals (2024–2027)
Goal 1: Expand Device Donation Network
Build partnerships with 200+ companies across the U.S. to receive regular donations of surplus tech. This includes launching employer engagement programs and facilitating tax-deductible donations for ESG teams.
Goal 2: Serve 10,000 New Beneficiaries
Provide at least 10,000 devices to individuals and families in need over the next three years, targeting underserved areas in urban and rural California, with expansion to neighboring states and Africa.
Goal 3: Launch National Digital Literacy Curriculum
Introduce an inclusive curriculum co-designed with public educators, community colleges, and nonprofits, available in English and Spanish, free to all device recipients.
Goal 4: Carbon Offset & Environmental Certification
Achieve formal recognition as an e-Steward certified organization and offer carbon offset reporting to partners seeking verified ESG reporting on e-waste diversion.
Goal 5: Scale Volunteerism
Recruit and train 100 volunteers through corporate partnerships to support device prep, data wiping, delivery logistics, tech education, and mentorship opportunities.
Our Impact to Date
3,000+ pounds of e-waste diverted from landfills
15+ devices distributed to students, veterans, and families
85% of recipients report improved access to jobs, education, or services
Partnerships with 5+ organizations and school districts
15+ hours of digital literacy training delivered
We publish impact reports, recipient stories, and transparent operational data to demonstrate accountability and authenticity in all we do.
Why Truconnected is Different
While other organizations in this space exist, Truconnected centers community dignity, circular sustainability, and human-centered tech access above all else.
Here’s how we stand out:
We refurbish, not recycle — keeping devices in the hands of people, not the waste stream.
We tell real stories — every donor and recipient matters, and we share their journeys.
We build capacity — our digital literacy programs create lasting change beyond the hardware.
We design for equity — everything from our workflows to our branding centers inclusion.
We are scalable, yet personal — we meet the scale of e-waste with the warmth of a local nonprofit.
