Project Horse makes a true difference every single day -- not only in the lives of our vulnerable clients, but also in the lives of their family members. Our charity is extremely unique and special, being powered by BOTH two and 4-legged volunteers. Project Horse is a place where all are welcome; where everyone is genuinely empowered to become the best version of themselves; where rescued horses and farm animals take the lead in connecting with clients, to develop a trust-based relationship; where clients -- sometimes for the first time in their lives -- experience a safe space, where they can begin to heal and grow; and where all who arrive at Project Horse discover their own resiliency, recognizing there is HOPE for a better tomorrow.
We are a volunteer-powered organization that has been helping at-risk members of the community since 2008. Over these past 16 years, we have been honored to help improve the outcomes and strengthen the mental well-being of more than one thousand clients, while also improving the lives and outlook of nearly 40 horses, and other farm animals, in need of rescue and rehabilitation.
We are most known for our innovative and highly effective THERAPY SERVICES, which are offered as day-treatment for to individuals, families or groups. For our Veterans and Military Service Members, our therapy services are extremely specialized, as we support Veterans in working through the devastating effects of Moral Injury and combat-related Post Traumatic Stress (often diagnosed as PTS/D). At Project Horse, therapy treatment is always at NO COST to Veterans and Military Service Members. Through our general therapy services, we work with any age member of our community, such as a young child who has been neglected, a preteen who has been bullied, an older teen who feels suicidal, or a senior-age adult challenged by chronic illness.
Our WELLNESS PROGRAMS, while NOT "therapy", are therapeutic in nature, designed to promote personal growth, development and learning. They are offered as single-day workshops or a multi-session classes. Similar to therapy services, our wellness programs are experiential, and they are delivered with the assistance of rehabilitated rescue horses and other farm animals. Project Horse's wellness programs are always delivered in a Group Format, and they are geared to serve a variety of interests in the community. For Veterans and Military Service Members, we offer specialized therapeutic supports to aid in their reintegration into civilian, community and family life -- always at NO CHARGE to them. For youth or adults in a residential treatment facility, we offer specialized interventions to help reduce destructive or maladaptive behaviors and improve readiness for a stable and successful discharge. For employees of County, City or State agencies, we deliver custom trainings and specialized events. Finally, for Corporate or Nonprofit Teams, we provide team-building experiences and trainings to improve team functioning and communication.
We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for both the rescued animals and the humans they help, by fostering a special, innovative community of mutual healing and benefit.
