Melrose is home to over a hundred creative “assets.” And yet there is not a single board, commission, or organization whose sole mission is the care and stewardship of our arts sector collectively. The Melrose Creative Alliance was born from the ideas of over 80 creative Melrosians who gathered in March 2022 for the first ever arts summit to examine a collective vision for how to grow and sustain creative activities in Melrose. Our main priorities are as follows:
- Advocating for increased funding and resources for Melrose creatives
- Diversity, equity, access, and inclusion as a core value in the arts in Melrose
- Improved public information and public outreach
- Encouraging creative collaborations, personal connections, networking opportunities and professional development for creatives
- Equitable access to right-sized affordable space for creative activities
