OREGON SOCIETY OF ARTISTS

Portland, Oregon

The Mission of the Oregon Society of Artists is to promote the visual arts in the diverse communities of our region, with educational and exhibition opportunities for artists at all levels of accomplishment.

OSA was established in 1926 to serve the needs of working artists in Oregon. Members came together to form a community and provide professional support for one another. Using donations, the Portland facility was built in 1951, complete with classrooms and a gallery. In 2007, OSA received 501(c)(3) status and was volunteer run until hiring its first employee in 2019. Today OSA has three employees, 27 art instructors, 167 volunteers, and 700 members. We offer art classes, workshops, gallery exhibitions, youth programming, and veterans’ programming to more than 20,000 people each year.
