The Oregon Bee Atlas is a volunteer-led initiative to document the state’s bees and the plants they visit. Oregon is home to some of the richest bee biodiversity in the nation. Around 600 species can be found here, but the exact number is unknown because no one has really taken a good look – until now. The Oregon Bee Atlas trains and equips volunteer melittologists to:
• Create and maintain a comprehensive and publicly accessible inventory of the state’s native bees and their plant-host preferences
• Educate Oregonians on the state’s bee biodiversity
• Conduct an on-going survey of native bee populations in order to assess their health.
