Our mission at Spark! Creativity is to bridge the gap in arts education by making it accessible and available to youth for their personal and professional growth. Spark! is launching two pilot programs—Teaching Artists in Schools and Youth Arts Camp/Pop-Up Workshops—to address the urgent need for equitable access to arts education, especially in light of widespread cuts across Washington state schools, including those in the Edmonds School District.
1. Teaching Artists in Schools: This program involves co-creating partnerships between classroom teachers and local teaching artists to reintegrate art into core subjects. The goal is to foster deep engagement among students through arts education.
2. Youth Arts Camp/Pop-Up Workshops: This program provides dedicated spaces for arts education outside traditional classroom settings, offering immersive experiences and opportunities for creative expression, critical thinking, and problem-solving skill development for all students.
These pilot programs are purposely designed to address the challenges of access to arts education by ensuring students have opportunities for creative and intellectual growth through the arts.
