VFW Post 6310, a volunteer veterans' organization was established in 1992 with the mission to help veterans returning from war and overseas conflicts with physical and mental injuries and in need of assistance for themselves or their families. For 30 years the VFW has assisted veterans in diverse ways. in 2019, the VFW Post 6310 received their IRS nonprofit determination charitable status. EIN 84-2852544. The mission was to continue to help veterans with their VA claims by training 10 volunteer veteran service officers to help with securing their benefits.. The post grew and increased members but found it difficult to find available donated space to bring members together. Still, the post provided assistance to veterans seeking help with their service-connected claims to the VA, offered opportunities to engage with community, dealt with ceremonial services, recruited new members and found ways to retain membership. To meet demand the post trained 10 veteran service officers to continue to help veterans with long-term sustainability by helping with their VA compensation and benefit claims. All were volunteers. In 2019, with the help of the City of Tolleson and Trammell Crow Developers, the post received donated land to build a permanent facility for veterans. The facility will house all veteran services and offer a place for veterans to find comradery and compassionate understanding. The facility will also serve the total Tolleson community. The post currently is a 100% veteran volunteer organization. While veterans are helping with labor and talent to build their own facility, funds are needed for materials, products and contracted labor. To date fundraising is required to complete the facility that will house veteran services and enable a permanent veteran facility in the City of Tolleson. To raise general operating funds and complete the facility, the VFW Post 6310 in 2023 launched an annual awards luncheon to be held in November just before Veterans Day. This will be an annual event. In 2024 it will be held on November 7, 2024, at the Renaissance Hotel in Glendale Arizona and sponsor and donors are needed.
