United States Veterans Service Dogs (USVSD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring independence, dignity, and quality of life for U.S. military veterans through the placement and support of professionally trained service dogs.
USVSD serves veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), mobility impairments, physical disabilities, and other service-connected conditions. Our mission is to reduce veteran isolation, improve mental and physical health outcomes, and help veterans successfully reintegrate into civilian life with the support of a highly trained canine partner.
Our service dogs are trained to perform critical tasks such as interrupting anxiety and panic episodes, grounding during PTSD triggers, providing mobility assistance, retrieving items, maintaining personal space in public, and offering constant companionship and emotional stability. These dogs are more than helpers; they are trusted battle buddies that veterans rely on every day.
USVSD emphasizes ethical training practices, veteran centered placement, and long-term support. Each veteran service dog team receives ongoing training, follow-up assistance, and community resources to ensure lasting success. Our programs are designed to remove financial barriers, making service dogs accessible to veterans who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
Beyond service dog placement, USVSD is committed to veteran wellness, suicide prevention, peer support, and community outreach. We collaborate with veteran service organizations, local communities, and supporters nationwide to raise awareness about the challenges veterans face and the life-changing impact of service dogs.
Donations made through Benevity directly support service dog training, veterinary care, equipment, handler education, and program expansion. Every contribution helps us serve more veterans, strengthen veteran canine bonds, and honor the sacrifices made by those who have served our country.
USVSD is proud to stand beside America’s veterans, one service dog, one life, and one mission at a time.
