River City Advocacy & Counseling Center provides accessible, affordable mental health counseling and peer support for veterans and military-connected families in New Braunfels, Comal County, and surrounding communities. Our goal is to ensure that cost, stigma, or difficulty navigating traditional systems does not prevent those who have served our country from receiving compassionate, timely mental health support. Through community funding, River City Advocacy is able to provide 4 sessions of counseling at no cost to military veterans and dependents of veterans. Counseling is provided by qualified mental health professionals and can address trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, substance use and co-occurring concerns, and other challenges affecting a veteran's quality of life. We also offer a Veterans Peer Support group led by our staff team of Veterans who can help support and welcome those who seek services. River City Advocacy's approach is rooted in the belief that veterans should be able to access mental health care within their own community, before challenges become crises. By combining professional counseling, evidence-based programming, peer connection, and strong community partnerships, we seek to create a continuum of support where veterans can find hope, rebuild connections, strengthen resilience, and move toward healthier and more stable lives.
