The Arlington Artists Alliance is a non-profit organization that champions a vibrant visual arts community by providing exhibition space, studios, professional development and creative experiences for Arlington artists. The Alliance was established in 2000 and gained non-profit status (501(c) (3)) organization in 2007; we have since grown to over 230 artist members who work or live in Arlington. Our members’ work includes paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media; drawings; photography; fiber art; sculpture; glass; metal work; ceramics and jewelry.
Our programs are found throughout Arlington County, Virginia, and we operate Alliance Gallery, a nonprofit art gallery featuring regional juried shows, member juried shows, community partnership exhibitions, and specially curated exhibitions. We take pride in showcasing not only our local artist members, but also the artwork of local teens, artists with disabilities, and veterans.
Our 200+ members also exhibit year-round at a variety of Arlington community venues, including local government offices, community organizations, local businesses, restaurants and cafes. The Alliance hosts several community-wide annual exhibits, including spring and fall festivals at Fort C.F. Smith in Arlington.The Alliance strives to support and advance cultural equity by welcoming a diversity of artists as Alliance members, encouraging diversity in artistic styles and expression, and fostering an environment where both artists and art enthusiasts with differing interests and perspectives can come together to share, learn, understand, and value the richness of diverse views through visual arts.
The Alliance gives back to our community through several partnerships that have grown over the years. Here are a few:
- Arlington Career Center Student Show—70+ students are mentored over 6 weeks to create their own art exhibition, from theme development to gallery curation; culminating in an professional Alliance Gallery exhibition.
- Artful Weekends (3x Annually)—Our popular small business art fairs featuring a large variety of artworks by over 120+ local artists going strong for the last 10 years
- Veterans Show—Exhibiting impactful healing artworks from veteran artists
- Langston Blvd Alliance Earth Day—Organizing art activities for over 300 local youth participants for the last 3 years.
- Affordable Housing Events where we host an art table for children and give away free original artworks to residents
- Partnerships with local businesses and government to display and sell artwork at 9 locations throughout Arlington.
