The Montessori approach to learning leans heavy on engaging the senses. Studies show that engaging multiple senses at once while learning, deepens that learning. Watercolor is a staple in each of our eight classrooms (seven individual classrooms and one classroom that both serves students receiving special education and intervention services and serves our after-care students. The use of clay is also a staple.
This request is for watercolor paper. While we have received a $200 donation from the Northwest Watercolor Foundation and occasional donations from parents, we still need about $600 per year for each classroom to satisfy the demand. Our students look forward to watercolor and ask to use this activity repeatedly. They are excited to either see their work posted in the hallways of the school, and/or take them home to show their families what they've created.
