SISTER OF NEW PRE-APPRENTICESHIP OF SOUTH FLORIDA CORP
Miami, FloridaSister Of NEW Pre‑Apprenticeship of South Florida Corporation (Non‑Traditional Employment for Women) exists to dismantle cycles of poverty and exclusion by opening pathways into skilled trades and dignified work. Our initiative is designed for female veterans, low‑income women, single mothers, and women historically marginalized by welfare dependency and limited opportunity. At its core, Sister Of NEW is committed to economic self‑sufficiency through nontraditional employment. We believe that when women gain access to construction and skilled trades—fields that traditionally exclude them—they unlock wages, stability, and independence far beyond what conventional “women’s work” has offered. This is not simply training; it is transformation. Our program provides: Hands‑on apprenticeship and construction skills training Basic education and workplace counseling tailored to women’s realities On‑the‑job experience that bridges learning with immediate workforce entry But our vision extends further. Sister Of NEW is also pioneering SoNEW Pocket Homes—a bold reimagining of housing solutions for those experiencing homelessness. Unlike shelters, which often carry stigma and restrict autonomy, Pocket Homes are designed as villages of dignity and freedom. Students in our program help build these homes, gaining practical training while directly addressing one of society’s most urgent challenges. We reject the notion that homelessness can be solved with the same failed tactics of the past. Pocket Homes represent a new covenant of empowerment: affordable, community‑built housing that honors the independence of those who have lived on the streets, while offering a first step toward stability. Sister Of NEW is not only a construction training program—it is a movement. A movement to equip women with tools, skills, and wages that break generational cycles of poverty. A movement to reimagine housing with compassion and innovation. A movement to prove that when women build, they build futures—for themselves, their families, and their communities.
