The bowling event is the primary source of funds that is used to provide selected recipients financial and or service-oriented assistance. Recipients are categorized into four areas: CRHS scholarship, holiday assistance, charitable organizations, and individuals.
A yearly scholarship is given to a graduating senior who demonstrates our mission statement as well as a financial need.
JR's Angels supports various organizations whose mission is consistent with ours, such as military support groups, special needs programs, food banks and those who take an active role in educating to lead productive lives such as the Food Bank of SJ / Cathedral Kitchen/ Shadow Equestrian and The Saint Francis Inn to name a few.
We partnered to do a Turkey and Trimmings where we helped both financially and physically to put together 1000 boxes (4000 meals) for the hungry. This past year we supplied gift cards for back-to-school shoes/sneakers to students who attended the Athlete’s Choice Camp (a camp to mentor children on and off the basketball court). Our breakfast with Santa fed over 900 as well as the giving of gifts to those 18 and under. We attended Angels Community Outreach Christmas event and surprised each family with a gift card to purchase food.
Lastly, and the most rewarding, is the ability for our organization to help individuals who find themselves in a financial crisis resulting from an unforeseen circumstance/catastrophic event such as a serious illness, death of a loved one, loss of property due to an act of nature, or the unplanned loss of a job. This past year we yet again had a father who suddenly passed leaving behind a wife and three young children, A family who lost everything including their pet in a house fire, A family whose child developed a rare debilitating disease that requires many procedures some of which not all will be covered.
