Los Angeles C.A.C.A. Community Action receives funds and grants for projects and programs or general support within its stated mission areas. In turn, Community Action awards scholarships and program/project grants to community clients within its mission areas. Community Action has served and will continue to act as fiscal sponsor for specified projects and programs of community groups in social welfare and community education, particularly newly formed nonprofit groups within mission and scope. An important client is Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) Los Angeles Lodge. Mission scope can expand to include clients for other Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, including other economically stressed and marginalized Americans.
In the last year, Community Action has awarded $1000 scholarships to high school students demonstrating excellence and leadership to encourage their paths to higher education, funded a youth leadership symposium on Zoom for 4 days, and help fund public education and events in recognizing Chinese American World War II veterans. Recently, it served as fiscal sponsor for a free Chinatown community quarterly newspaper, "throw-away" operated entirely by high school and college youth, for several years.
In 2025, a project created, designed, and produced a L.A. Chinatown Community Calendar for Year 2026, to be distributed free of charge in the community as public education on the evolution of democracy in Chinese America and the neighborhood, with cultural arts as a facilitator. The internal project objectives were to have the interns team research Chinese American history and practice development of creative media from inception to distribution, guided by young professionals.
