The Thin Line Retreat is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of frontline heroes including first responders, medical professionals, dispatchers, correctional officers, and veterans. These individuals face daily exposure to trauma, loss, and high-stress situations that often result in burnout, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. Despite the need, access to confidential, supportive recovery programs remains limited. The Thin Line Retreat was created to fill that gap by offering a dedicated healing environment where those who serve can rest, recover, and rebuild.
Our programs will be designed to promote emotional wellness and resilience through trauma-informed therapy, peer support, outdoor and nature-based activities, mindfulness training, and faith-centered recovery options. Participants will also have access to family support programs to strengthen relationships impacted by the demands of frontline service.
Funding from this grant will support:- Land development and infrastructure, including utilities and accessibility improvements- Construction of cabins, wellness facilities, and counseling spaces- Staffing for licensed counselors, peer mentors, and wellness professionals- Program supplies, therapy materials, and participant transportation- Ongoing operational and outreach efforts to expand accessibility.
The Thin Line Retreat will serve as a long-term mental health resource for those who dedicate their lives to serving others. Our measurable outcomes include improved mental wellness, decreased burnout, and increased help-seeking behaviors among participants. Within the first year, the retreat is projected to serve over 400 individuals, providing structured support and measurable improvements in coping skills, stress reduction, and overall quality of life.In the long term,
The Thin Line Retreat aims to strengthen community resilience by ensuring that those on the front lines receive the same compassion and care they extend to others. By investing in the people who protect, heal, and serve, this initiative helps sustain healthier families, stronger communities, and a more stable workforce across public safety and healthcare professions. The Thin Line Retreat is more than a project; it is a commitment to restoring balance and hope for our nation’s frontline heroes, reminding them that healing is not a sign of weakness, but an act of strength.
