Role Player is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building community, fostering creativity, and expanding access to the joy of tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs). We believe that collaborative storytelling is more than just play: It is a powerful tool for education, self-expression, and connection. Through immersive games like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and Daggerheart, we provide inclusive opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to gather, imagine, and grow together.
Our programs are designed to support diverse participants, from children and teens discovering the magic of shared storytelling to adults and seniors seeking creative outlets and meaningful social engagement. We create safe, welcoming spaces where imagination can thrive, friendships can form, and players can explore new perspectives through roleplay.
TTRPGs also offer proven therapeutic and developmental benefits. While Role Player is not a medical or clinical organization, we recognize the unique value of roleplaying games in helping individuals build confidence, improve communication skills, practice problem-solving, and foster teamwork. For many neurodivergent players and those navigating personal struggles, the act of roleplaying can provide stress relief, a sense of agency, and a supportive environment for personal growth. By engaging in storytelling and play, participants experience improved social interaction, creative exploration, and emotional resilience.
Role Player’s mission is broad and far-reaching:
Education: Teaching storytelling, critical thinking, collaboration, and strategy through play.
Arts & Culture: Elevating tabletop gaming as a recognized art form and cultural practice.
Community Building: Providing spaces for people to connect, especially those who may feel isolated or underserved.
Youth Empowerment: Encouraging imagination, responsibility, and creativity in younger generations.
Inclusivity: Ensuring access to games for people across economic, cultural, generational, and ability divides.
Wellbeing: Offering play that promotes joy, reduces stress, and provides therapeutic benefits in a safe, non-clinical environment.
Our vision is a world where storytelling games are embraced not just as hobbies, but as meaningful tools for human connection, learning, and growth. Whether through after-school programs, senior engagement initiatives, public community events, or collaborative projects with other nonprofits, Role Player is committed to using the power of imagination to inspire and empower.
By supporting Role Player, donors help us expand access to the life-enriching benefits of tabletop roleplaying games. Together, we can transform play into purpose, ensuring that more people -- young and old, neurodivergent and neurotypical, beginners and veterans alike -- can find joy, belonging, and creativity at the table.
