Curbside chipping assists homeowners in disposing of the slash on their properties in a timely manner - reducing the "fuel load". In many rural areas, disposing of the woody debris is a problem. Many people cannot haul the material to the local dump and waste management companies do not always take it or take it in small lots at a time. MRFSC offers this service for free. Contractors come to each property and chip the woody material, blowing it back on the property for erosion control or leaving it in a pile for the property owner to put in flower beds, etc.
