Child Care Choices is a voice for families and child care providers in Miami County, Ohio. We build relationships and collaborations with key stakeholders in the community to develop and maintain high quality child care programs.
Child Care Providers can depend on us for Ohio Approved trainings in required Health & Safety areas and Child Development topics to maintain their license and certification, as well as resources for their classrooms. Our Story Lady and Yoga Lady Programs provide early childhood educators with the tools and strategies they need to engage young children in early literacy and learning skills, as well as strategies to help young learners develop attention, focus and mindfulness which are essential as children transition to Kindergarten.
Each year Child Care Choices makes more than 200 Story Lady visits to child care centers, preschools and family child care homes. Our Story Ladies read with the children, while modeling best practices for the providers. The children then participate on hands on activities related to the theme or content of the book, which shows them a real life connection between literature and their world. The benefits of the program are compounded as each child receives a book to take home to share with their families. Each book contains a label with suggestions for enrichment activities that can be done at home.
For families Child Care Choices works give them the tools and resources to find quality child care. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the availability of child care has decreased dramatically, leaving some families with few or no options for care. We are working furiously to advocate for and develop more child care options or families. We have developed collaborations with local governments, businesses and organizations to engage the community in solving the child care crisis in Miami County.
We have a vision that all children have opportunities for rich early learning experiences to prepare them for future success in school and life and are willing to fight for the needs of these young children so that they will grow up to be responsible, successful, industrious citizens in our community.
