SANDE SCHOOL OF HORSEMANSHIP

Our Nonprofit Enrichment Programs located in Columbia County, Oregon:
•Youth Leadership / Youth Mentoring
This program pairs a peer mentor and horse with a child in foster care. The duo works together to learn care-taking, handling and riding skills in weekly sessions meant to teach important life skills, including confidence, compassion, patience, responsibility, trust and communication skills.
•Riders with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
About 30% of our students experience disabilities, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s syndrome, ADHD, Processing Delays and Brain Injuries. We offer Equine Therapy to help build strength, flexibility, coordination, confidence, communication and daily life skills.
•Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Columbia County experiences a severe void in mental health services. Sande offers equine assisted psychotherapy, one of the few activity-based therapies in the county. EAP is especially effective with veterans and trauma survivors, allowing them to process without reliving the trauma.
