Who We Are
The San Antonio Coalition for Veterans and Families (SACVF) is a veteran-led 501(c)(3) non-profit headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. We operate in the heart of "Military City USA." We understand that while there are many resources available to veterans, the bureaucracy required to access them can often feel like a second combat zone. SACVF exists to bridge that gap. We serve as the "first responders" for veterans, survivors, and their families who have fallen through the cracks of federal and state systems.
Our Mission: Immediate Crisis Intervention
Our philosophy is simple: NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. When a veteran is facing a 24-hour eviction notice or their pantry is empty, they cannot wait weeks for a government claim to process. We provide the immediate "breathing room" a family needs to stabilize.
Our Direct Support Services Include:
Emergency Housing: We provide immediate 7-day hotel stays for veterans and families facing sudden homelessness. This provides a safe environment while we coordinate long-term housing solutions.
Food Security: We distribute $100 H-E-B gift cards to ensure that no veteran or military child goes hungry while navigating a financial crisis.
Utility Assistance: We provide direct utility assistance to pay overdue water, electric, or gas bills. This keeps the lights on and the home safe for our local heroes.
Transportation Support: We provide bus passes to ensure veterans can reach critical medical appointments, job interviews, and job fairs.
How We Eliminate Red Tape
At SACVF, we pride ourselves on operational efficiency and personal connection.
The Quick Reaction Force (QRF): Our QRF team is designed for speed. We assess needs immediately and provide same-day support for veterans in crisis.
Streamlined Intake: Every veteran who reaches out is connected to a dedicated intake coordinator. There are no automated loops. We provide direct, human-to-human support and confidential case management.
A Collaborative Powerhouse: We leverage an extensive network of San Antonio service providers. If a veteran has a need we cannot meet directly, we provide a "warm hand-off" to a trusted partner organization.
