The New London Homeless Hospitality Center needs new to us vehicles because reliable transportation is essential to nearly every part of its mission. Staff use vehicles daily to transport guests to medical appointments, housing interviews, and job opportunities—critical steps on the path to stability. Vehicles also support the Street Outreach team, enabling them to cover wide areas efficiently and deliver supplies, food, and direct assistance to people living outside. Current vehicles are aging, increasingly unreliable, and costly to maintain, which creates risks of missed appointments, interrupted outreach, and reduced capacity to respond quickly to urgent needs. New vehicles would not only lower maintenance costs but also ensure safe, dependable, and dignified transportation for guests, while strengthening the center’s ability to meet people where they are and connect them with life-changing resources. In short, investing in updated vehicles directly translates into better care, broader reach, and improved outcomes for those experiencing homelessness.
