Founded by actor Taylor Kitsch, Howlers Ridge is a nature-based healing center immersed in the natural beauty of Bozeman, Montana. Howlers Ridge is grounded in evidence-informed research that demonstrates how time in nature improves health, lifts mood, reduces stress, and builds connection. When construction of the retreat center is complete we will offer intentionally-designed programs that incorporate leading methodologies in nature-based healing, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, somatic therapy, and other healing practices to foster resilience, personal growth, and recovery for those navigating trauma, grief, and life’s hardest moments, including:
• Veterans
• People in recovery from substance use disorders
• Survivors of trauma, sexual assault or domestic violence
• Individuals grappling with loss, grief or other challenges
• Nonprofit practitioners who are experiencing burnout or the effects of vicarious trauma
In partnership with organizations that share our focus, we will offer multi-day retreats for small groups of up to 15, at no cost to participants. With access to practitioners who have expertise in a variety of modalities, each retreat will be customized to best meet the unique needs of participants. Retreats will include lodging, meals, and a selection of therapeutic activities such as:
• Group and individual coaching/counseling
• Mindfulness and somatic workshops
• Nature therapy, hiking, wildlife photography and fly-fishing
• Indigenous healing practices such as sweat ceremonies
When the retreat center is ready we will launch a series of educational workshops to introduce Bozeman and the surrounding communities to our approach to personal growth and wellness. These events will be open to the public, with fees on a sliding scale to ensure accessibility to those with the greatest need. Our current vision includes:
• Leadership development training
• Mindfulness workshops
• Nature-based therapy programs
• Yoga, meditation, and somatic healing events
• Sober retreats
We also plan to offer grants to aligned nonprofit partners to offer flexible support to nature-based healing organizations who share our values and belief in the transformative power of time in the wild.
