Missions of Honor is dedicated to honoring America's Veterans—one mission at a time. The idea was born out of the very public mental health crisis facing many of our nation's heroes. We felt the time was right to focus on a younger generation of veterans, to assist them on a path toward healing, and to express our deepest gratitude for their service. Through our Retreat, we aim to provide meaningful opportunities for veterans to find peace, reconnect with their battle buddies, and begin to heal from their wartime experiences.
The Freedom to Liberty: A Mission of Healing Retreat takes veterans who served during the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) to New York City, where they visit the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the Statue of Liberty, and the Freedom Tower—all at no cost to the veteran.
During the retreat, participants hear from special guests, including prominent 9/11 first responders who share their deeply personal stories of hope, resilience, and faith. In addition, distinguished veterans—including a Medal of Honor recipient—join us to offer powerful insights drawn from their own experiences. These are individuals who understand the struggles our participants face, because they’ve walked the same path.
The retreat has proven to be a tremendous success, helping many veterans begin their journey toward a healthier and more hopeful future. In fact, numerous participants have shared that following the retreat, they reached out to the VA or other similar organizations to begin—or restart—counseling. Others found a new counselor who are a better fit and took that important first step toward healing. We couldn’t be more proud of these outcomes, and we remain dedicated to continuing this life-saving mission.
Missions of Honor is an independent organization established to develop innovative and meaningful ways to honor America’s heroes of all ages. While we share some similarities with Honor Flight, we are not an Honor Flight Network–sanctioned organization. Any resemblance is purely coincidental and should not be interpreted as a collaboration.
We’ve only just begun—and we hope you’ll join us. Your support allows us to continue honoring those who have given so much. Thank you for your consideration.
