Children's Art Studio Richmond

The vision for the Children's Art Studio Richmond / Taller de Arte Para Niños Richmond is to create a space that promotes creativity and self-expression, with a focus on painting and drawing for underserved children and families in Richmond. The vision for this project is informed by Monica Haley’s work as an arts educator and director of the Richmond Child Care Center Program from 1943 - 1966.

The children’s art produced during this critical period in Richmond’s history was a result of her approach and philosophy to children’s creativity. Inspired by Haley’s model, this project will create a space and learning experience that allows children to feel free to express themselves in a spontaneous and unstructured way.
