United Way’s HELP Center works alongside other local nonprofit partners that serve the local veteran population by working together to provide and/or locate affordable housing, medical care, job training, and basic needs. The HELP Center meets the needs of veterans and other households in crisis or distress by providing direct access to essential items like food, clothing, toiletries, home goods, cleaning supplies, etc. Narrowing the gap of inequity and providing them with a dignified experience when they are the most vulnerable. Securing basic household supplies is often impossible for families who are barely making ends meet. The program fills this gap. Clients are more likely to be able to achieve higher-level goals when basic needs are immediately addressed.
