Tecate Horse Rescue (THR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in rural San Diego County. We rescue at-risk horses, mules, donkeys, and ponies—providing medical care, rehabilitation, training, and safe, loving placement.
But our mission doesn’t stop there.
Our rescued equines become part of equine-assisted therapy, youth education, trauma recovery programs, and community wellness experiences that serve:
Children facing emotional or behavioral challenges
Veterans with PTSD
Women and families healing from trauma
Seniors seeking connection
Individuals recovering from addiction or grief
At-risk youth and community members needing support

What We Need Right Now

Your Giving Tuesday support directly sustains our life-saving work. Current urgent needs include:

✔ $6,000/month — Feed for the herd

Hay, cubes, pellets, and specialty nutrition for horses recovering from neglect or medical emergencies.

✔ $1,000–$3,500/month — Veterinary care
Dentals, hoof care, bloodwork, medication, emergency response, and ongoing treatment for seniors and special-needs equines.
✔ $350/month — Sponsor a horse
Provide full care for one rescued horse for an entire month.
✔ $100 — Feed the herd for a full day
Every $100 gift covers hay, cubes, and supplements for all 40+ equines.
