Tailwinds Ranch is dedicated to providing specialized, intensive therapy for veterans, military service members, and first responders who have been exposed to traumatic events, combat-related trauma, post-TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), and moral injury. Since our establishment in 2020, we have offered tailored counseling programs that address the unique challenges faced by these individuals. Our services are provided free of charge through the Moral Injury Recovery Model- rebuilding a positive sense of self by doing volunteer work in their communities in exchange for services at Tailwinds. However, some clients opt instead to contribute financially or through volunteer work, and occasionally, their employers or organizations sponsor their therapy.
We also partner with select residential addiction treatment programs to offer customized therapy for veterans and military personnel. Many former residents have reported that their participation in the Tailwinds program was a critical factor in their successful recovery.
At Tailwinds Ranch, we employ VA-approved, evidence-based therapies, utilizing assessment scales to measure trauma symptoms at intake, during treatment, and at discharge. Our team, led by EMDR-trained trauma counselors who are deeply familiar with military culture, is committed to the healing process. We recognize, however, that understanding the reality of war or the trauma experienced by first responders goes beyond theoretical knowledge. This is why we integrate peer support coaches—veterans who have walked the same path as our clients—into our programs. These coaches provide a vital link, offering a safe space for clients to share their experiences. Together, our counselors and coaches collaborate, within HIPAA guidelines, to set and achieve client goals.
In addition to traditional therapy, we offer post-therapy equine services to help clients rebuild their ability to connect and communicate effectively. Our volunteers play an indispensable role, assisting with peer coaching, horse care, and maintaining the ranch.
Tailwinds Ranch is more than just a therapy center; it’s a place where military service members, veterans, and first responders can rediscover a sense of purpose, hope, and the coping skills needed to reclaim their lives. All donations directly support our client counseling programs, such as individual sessions for clients, family integration therapy sessions, and group sessions when available. Funding ensures that we can continue to serve those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
