WAVE (Welcoming All Valuing Everyone) Project is about love.
At WAVE Project, we believe that feeling clean should be accessible to all. For too long, people experiencing homelessness in Metro Detroit, Michigan have been plagued by a lack of facilities to safely take showers. While over 8,500 people in Michigan experience homelessness on any given day, fewer than 20 walk-in showers are available for these individuals.
Our mobile shower services trailer provides 30+ showers per event, doubling the amount of walk-in shower facilities. Being mobile, we are able to bring the shower trailer to local shelters, churches, and other places accessible to the people we serve.
Hygiene products are another resource that is difficult for people experiencing homelessness to acquire. We created The Essentials Van, which offers hygiene kits (featuring a toothbrush, toothpaste and more), undergarments, seasonally appropriate clothing, and other items to address this need. Like the shower trailer, the Essentials Van is mobile and serves residents across Metro Detroit.
When our guests use our services, they are taking time to invest in themselves. We believe in giving our guests the resources to feel capable, and that sometimes, all it takes to get back on your feet is a shower.
