Our Round Pens are a place of learning and connection at our farm. If you have been around horses and a farm before you may be aware that round pens are used to train and "break" a horse. We take a different approach and have had immense success in our methods. For us, the round pen is a place to face your greatest struggles. It is a vulnerable place for our participants. The struggle with self and protection emerges almost immediately. Working in the round pen with a horse can be intimidating. However, our trained professionals are able to guide and support our participants as they learn to create new, healthier pathways toward communication, consistency, and relationship.
Once they experience the beauty of clear communication and the power of connection the participant leaves the round pen forever changed. We know that our methods may seem different and extreme to those who have never experienced the co-regulation and relationship with an equine partner. However, one step in the round pen and your body reacts. Our trained professionals are able to see exactly how a person's brain reacts (Fight, Flight, Freeze, or Fawn). In these moments, with support from our staff, our clients are carving out new pathways and implementing new tools that they have been practicing for months leading up to this pivotal moment.
