Bring Vietnamese Refugee History to Orange County Students

The Vietnamese Heritage Museum seeks $15,000 to bring approximately 300 Orange County students and 12 educators into direct contact with primary sources and first-person refugee testimony.

The project will provide eight museum field trips and four classroom or community programs. Students will learn through historical artifacts, bilingual oral-history excerpts, inquiry activities, facilitated discussion, and teacher resources addressing forced displacement, resettlement, immigration, and civic life.

Funding will support transportation and access assistance, bilingual learning materials, docent preparation, teacher resources, and program evaluation. A contribution of $1,000 can help underwrite transportation and educational access for one student field trip.

Together, we can ensure that young people of all backgrounds learn refugee history from the people, objects, and documents that carry it.
