What makes us stand out - We are a working family with our own personal struggles with family disabilities - One of the partners is a woman who also does the labor as well as the design work 4. Goals - Helping families in desperate need improve their home life - Help as many families as possible - Shed light on families with disabilities and every day struggles - Help organizations for disabled persons (Veterans, Autism, Deaf, MS, etc.) RESCUING FAMILIES, INC. Mission Statement We at Rescuing Families, Inc are trying to make a positive difference in people’s lives through their homes. People with disabilities & financial hardships struggle everyday with tasks that most people find second nature. We are looking to help make their life easier by improving and/or eliminating the hurdle in their homes. Whether it is a bathroom that is in great disrepair or a ramp that can make it easier to get in and out of their home or anything that promotes a struggle we are here to make it better. Our own family faces some of those struggles day to day so we understand the need, and want to offer our help. At Rescuing Families, Inc we are also trying to shed light on the different challenges that are faced daily by regular people. People need to understand that there are families in their own neighborhoods that are struggling and desperately need help. It’s important to let the struggling families know that there are other families out there that want to help; we are one of them…..

There are over 50 million disabled individuals in the United States who need access to unique home construction and specialized design. Rescuing Families Inc., is a growing Long Island charity, on its quest to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Through a completely new approach to home design, they transform the lives of families who feel forgotten, and raise awareness of solutions that are available for them.
Rescuing Families was founded by contractors who spent their lives caring for families with disabilities. This series follows master carpenter and matriarch Gina Cantone-Centauro, her husband Vinny Centauro, her brother Michael Cantone and co-founder and longtime family friend, Roger Grand-Pierre as they use their contracting skills to make homes safe, livable and handicapped-accessible for the underprivileged and people with disabilities. Along the way they will overcome construction setbacks, endure personal loss and health issues, and strive to empower change across their community and the nation.
Rescuing Families is founded on the belief that beautiful design should be accessible for everyone, regardless of status or disability. Gina, Vinny and Michael step in with unique experience navigating this system and bring a world of specially designed handicap hardware to bear on all their builds. Gina and Vinny take time to understand their client’s specific frustrations and create innovative solutions that cater to their individual needs. Rescuing Families knows firsthand the obstacles that their clients face every day. Gina and Michael’s sister Dina is developmentally disabled, deaf, and acutely autistic. Their mother passed away a few years ago, and their father passed away during our filming. Vinny’s father lost the use of his legs after serving in Vietnam and passed away a few years ago. Despite these hardships and heartaches, the family refuses to compromise in its mission to ensure that the less fortunate are afforded the same quality of life as everyone else. Rescuing Families is more than a homebuilding charity. Even after the builds are complete, they focus on their client’s wellbeing and welcome them into their own family. When an individual is overwhelmed or in distress, they never hesitate to assist, whether it’s helping someone find a job, advocating for specialized aid or simply arranging a therapeutic art lesson. With each new home, Family to the Rescue grows, creating a community of people whose lives have been improved forever. People who once felt alone in their struggle now become a part of this legacy.
